Many automotive customers do not necessarily think of pickup trucks as being fuel efficient, but as is the case in every industry segment, one vehicle is going to sit atop its competition in terms of fuel efficiency. It just so turns out that the Ford Ranger not only is atop all gas-powered midsized pickups in this regard, but it actually holds its own among all gas-powered vehicles. The fact that it can do that and boast such impressive performance numbers is a testament to what Ford has built in the new 2019 Ford Ranger.
“Midsize truck customers have been asking for a pickup that’s Built Ford Tough,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “And Ford Ranger will deliver with durability, capability and fuel efficiency, while also providing in-city maneuverability and the freedom desired by many midsize pickup truck buyers to go off the grid.”
The 2019 Ford Ranger has earned EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 21 MPG city, 26 MPG highway, and 23 MPG combined for all of its 4×2 trucks, but despite those strong efficiency numbers, the Ford Ranger still is considered a workhorse with its 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine capable of making upwards of 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, the latter of which also is the highest in its segment.
